The Leadership Niagara program is a wonderful example of how Niagara Region business and community leaders have joined forces to support Niagara’s future development and prosperity. All communities need committed and visionary leaders to continue to thrive and flourish. Leadership Niagara is not only providing valuable training experiences for tomorrow’s leaders, but the program ensures that we identify and nurture potential leaders and provide them with the opportunity to begin working together with other future Niagara leaders.
If Niagara is to reach its full potential in the future, new leaders with an understanding of the issues facing our community need to be identified, nurtured and developed. Through Leadership Niagara, leaders will emerge capable of building a stronger, relevant and vibrant region. Because of this potential, the Niagara Community Foundation has committed staff and financial resources to Leadership Niagara since its inception in 2005 and continues to do so.
The return on investment in Leadership Niagara is multi-fold. Our leaders who participate in the program always come back to work with improved leadership and communication skills, a new set of community and business contacts, and a passion to be a better leader within our company and in the community.
Leadership Niagara has provided very solid training for our employees who have a participated in the program. We are seeing stronger leaders, more effective communication and a real passion for giving back to the community.
This program was a game-changer for my personal and professional development. With the knowledge and experiences I gained through Leadership Niagara I have been able to build a clear brand strategy as an emerging entrepreneur focused on community involvement and empowering Niagara’s youth.
Effective February 25th, 2019, Leadership Niagara’s Community Leadership Program has updated its name to Accelerate Civic Leadership (ACL).
Founded in 2007, Accelerate Civic Leadership (formerly the Community Leadership Program) is our flagship program. As the premier leadership experience in the Niagara region, the program equally builds employee leadership presence in the workplace, while also creating community-minded leaders ready to tackle our communities’ greatest challenges.
Accelerate Civic Leadership focuses on increasing the civic readiness of mid-career professionals in Niagara, across diverse sectors, to demonstrate community leadership.
Over an immersive 9-month leadership experience (September to the following May), participants familiarize themselves with some of the most important issues facing our communities in Niagara, connect with and learn from the community’s most dynamic leaders, and build and strengthen their leadership capacity through face-to-face learning and a team-based community action project.
We’re passionate about inspiring and building community in Niagara.
