Our Leader Spotlight – Jonna Wolfenburg

Community Engagement Coordinator, Niagara Region

This series is dedicated to introducing and celebrating the participants of the ACL+ 2021 program. Each week, we will focus on one of our leaders, sharing a little bit about them and what motivates them to explore community leadership in Niagara.

My name is Jonna Wolfenburg and I am the Community Engagement Coordinator for Community Support Services of Niagara.

I am passionate about our community. I work in the non-profit sector and with marginalized individuals. I hope to help make our community a better place to live and work.

Why are you personally motivated to explore civic leadership?

I believe that strong leadership is important to ensure that we can help all those in our community.  I believe that this program can help me to learn what is needed to lead with compassion.

What, in your view, is the most significant issue/opportunity facing our community? Why?

The most significant issues facing our community is housing, food security & mental health.

Housing prices are skyrocketing making it unattainable for a family to buy a home, food prices are soaring, and we need to be better at sharing resources.

What individual attributes do you hope to develop or expand upon?

I hope to expand upon making more community partners to achieve a common goal, serving those in our community.
